Program mode / Scene Mode

In many cameras, Program can be selected by pushing a button or turning a dial. In Program mode, aperture, shutter speed, the Flash and its intensity, and other functions are set automatically.
Scene Mode gives the user a choice of graphic symbols for various photographic events, portraiture, landscape, night photography etc.
This may seem like a dream come true for the everyday photographer, but Program or Scene modes are not a magical function that can be used at all times, in every situation. In fact, sometimes Program or Scene will result in poor photographs, because what it controls does not cover all the components needed to take a good picture.
There are three important points to remember about Program or Scene mode:
1.You must understand the characteristics of each mode.
2.You must choose the right lens (focal length) and ISO sensitivity.
3.You must choose the appropriate mode for shooting situation or find the subject suitable for the mode you choose
Some manufactures don't include Program or Scene mode in their high-end cameras, probably because the people who use these cameras understand the relationship between aperture, shutter speed, focal length, etc., and can make the adjustments themselves.
This is something to keep in mind when purchasing a camera.
